Vintage Summer Solsgirth House Wedding Photography – Scotland
Kevin and Kirsty booked me in 2015 for their wedding this year. They’d told me it was going to be a relaxed affair, at Solsgirth House in Scotland. They added on a 2nd photographer to have groom prep photographed, and I would photograph bridal prep.
I hadn’t worked at Solsgirth House before this wedding, and didn’t know what to expect. I often work at venues for the first time, and really enjoy the experience of finding spots for photos with a fresh set of eyes.
When I met Kirsty on the morning, it was the first time I’d met them too. Her dress suited her perfectly, and when I saw the dress and flowers together with her bridesmaids dresses – I knew it was going to be a classy day, exciting to photograph. She made a beautiful bride, and her bridesmaids and family made me feel so welcome.
The ceremony took place at a church near to them which was beautiful inside. We headed off to Solsgirth House where guests were greeted with champagne and canapes. After a handful of portraits on the grounds they headed in for their meal. The room was beautifully decorated with vintage inspired decor which suited the room well.
After their meal they had speeches which had the whole room in stiches. The best man speech is by far the most original one I have heard to date. There were no cheesy lines, no internet-copies, just pure raw stories of what the groom once got up to.
Once they’d all stopped laughing, guests were guided to the outdoor marquee where the dancing took place. Kirsty and Kevin had suppliers decorate with the most beautiful lighting. This is where the cake cutting and first dance took place. The marquee was large enough to accomdate their evening arrivals, and dark enough to enjoy the ambience.
Thank you so much for having me photograph your special day. I wish you both the utmost happiness and hope these photographs bring you years and years of fond memories.
A special thanks to Sue-Slique photography for being my assistant/2nd shooter for the day!
