I’ve been so looking forward to sharing my blog post from this West on the Green Wedding, Glasgow. Not only is it a really cool and unique venue but Amy and Jazz are fab and I loved every minute of their wedding day.
I absolutely adore Amy and Jazz’s love story. It was an office romance, although they were working in different offices in cities miles apart from each other! However, they didn’t let a little thing like distance put them off. They talked every day and would meet up whenever and wherever they could. I’m also very impressed that they managed to keep it hush hush and avoid the office gossip, amazing!
They joke that they are meant to be as Amy likes cooking and Jazz loves eating! Sounds like a perfect partnership! We got on so well from the moment we met up, I was over the moon when they booked me to be their wedding photographer.
West on the Green, or West Brewery, is a great combination of German and Glaswegian. Imagine a German beerhouse, located within one of Glasgow’s most historic buildings – the Templeton Building – on Glasgow Green, right in the heart of the city centre. It’s a brilliant location, full of life and with so much amazing architecture around it.
Amy and Jazz both arrived separately, accompanied by their very proud parents. They were walking down the aisle separately but were keen to do a first look ahead of the ceremony. Now, I’m a huge fan of first looks, they are a lovely way for a couple to have a few moments together before the wedding, it helps with nerves and there’s always lots of lovely emotions! Amy and Jazz were over the moon to see each other and I love that their parents were with them too, there was a lot of hugging and excited chatter as I took a few family photos. Then it was time for Amy and Jazz to go and get married!
After an emotional and laughter filled ceremony it was time for everyone to celebrate. The drinks were flowing – well, they were holding their wedding reception in a brewery – and everyone was so happy to be catching up with each other. As their friends and family enjoyed delicious canapes and made the most of the lovely weather Amy, Jazz and I decided to head off for a few couple’s portraits. We explored the local area before being allowed to head into the brewery itself which made for some very cool pictures amongst all the brewing equipment.
I have to mention ARD Bakery, and Amy and Jazz’s incredible cake! Everyone was commenting on it and it’s definitely one of the best I’ve seen. It was almost a shame to cut it, although Amy and Jazz did so very enthusiastically before heading onto the dancefloor for their first dance. They were soon joined by everyone and it was time for their ceilidh, which is always hilarious to photograph!
I had so much fun at Amy and Jazz’s wedding. West on the Green is such a great wedding venue and I can’t wait to head back there.
I adore photographing Scottish weddings. If you’re planning your own West On The Green wedding then I’d love to hear from you.
