Love was in full bloom on a crisp, early spring day as Rebecca and Dale exchanged vows in a heartwarming ceremony at Harelaw Farm – one of my very favourite farm wedding venues in Scotland. Their love story was a testament to the power of handmade touches, picturesque scenery, and a touch of rain that only added to the magic of their special day.
When guests arrived they were greeted by the countryside, which served as the perfect backdrop for this rustic yet elegant wedding. The Byre, a charming space on the farm, was transformed into a whimsical wonderland. Handcrafted decor and DIY dried flowers expressed the love and care that went into planning every detail of the celebration.
One couldn’t help but gasp as Rebecca walked down the aisle in her stunning Justin Alexander wedding dress, exuding timeless elegance and radiance. The dress perfectly complemented the early spring vibes, with delicate lace and intricate details capturing the essence of the season.
Despite small spells of rain throughout the day, the weather couldn’t dampen the couple’s spirits. Instead, it provided a beautiful opportunity for the newlyweds to embrace each other under an umbrella. This created some of the most touching and romantic moments of the day. When the skies cleared, the couple ventured outside for photos. They even got to meet the sweetest little spring lamb!
What made this wedding even more extraordinary was the personal touch that Rebecca had poured into every aspect of the event. She hand-embroidered all the little details, including table names, adding a sense of intimacy and uniqueness to the celebration. Every element reflected the couple’s personality and love story, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone present.
Harelaw Farm not only provided a breathtaking setting for the ceremony but also took care of the wedding catering. Guests were treated to a delectable feast, with locally-sourced and seasonally-inspired dishes.
Rebecca’s flawless makeup, done by the talented Danielle Dickson, highlighted her natural beauty, while her hair, elegantly styled by Elegant Bridal Hairstyling, really completed her look.
The bridesmaids were a vision in their blue satin ASOS dresses, perfectly complimenting the spring theme. Dale and his groomsmen looked dapper in their stylish outfits from Slaters, exuding charm and charisma as they stood by the groom’s side.
Music was a significant part of the festivities, and the band, the Jiggers, kept everyone on their feet, dancing the night away with their lively tunes and infectious energy.
One of the highlights of the evening was the wedding cake—an unconventional, yet delectable cheese cake from IJ Mellis. It delighted cheese enthusiasts and provided a delightful twist to the traditional wedding cake. Their cake toppers were absolutely adorable!
The charming stationery, including the invitations and other printed materials, were printed by Blanche Paperie, sourced from Etsy’s digital downloads, adding a touch of simplicity and elegance to the overall theme.
Flowers played a crucial role in the wedding decor, with Rebecca’s DIY floral arrangements showcasing the beauty of dried flowers.
Rebecca and Dale’s early spring wedding at this most incredible of farm wedding venues in Scotland was a true labor of love. Every moment was infused with joy, and the attention to detail made it a celebration that will be remembered for years to come. As the sun set on this magical day, it marked the beginning of a new chapter for the couple, filled with endless love, laughter, and cherished memories. It was such a pleasure to photograph their big day and I was delighted with their kind feedback:
“Christine photographed our wedding on a rainy day in March 2023. She captured all the emotions of the day so perfectly, but most importantly everyone looks so happy in all the photos. One of the things that really drew us to Christine was that she said she liked to capture the joy of the day, and that comes through so much in the photos. They are honestly so joyful! We’re really going to struggle deciding which ones to print and which to use for thank you cards as there’s so many brilliant ones.
It was so great having Christine with us on the day. She really made us feel so at ease and that shows in all the photos. Even all the family shots look so natural and relaxed. We would definitely recommend Christine to anyone!”
